Best bang for the buck. Whitesmoke is the best value in the top tier grammar checkers. For the web version, copy your source prose locally often or risk losing your work. The Writer is where you type content and is checked and corrected for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style while tracking word count and similar stats. It will score your prose and offer suggestions including why to change. It also has sections for translating (about 80 languages) and checking for plagiarism.

It's really easy to use and actually doesn't make the mistakes that others make. I was using one of the high-end grammar checkers that had a dictionary so poor it didn't even know some fairly common words. The only real problem is that White Smoke doesn't do its checks onsite. You have to copy and paste into the site where you want to post. So, I have to take a star for that. Otherwise, it works well.
