The Koreatown Hat is inspired by the first Koreatown in Los Angeles. On August 7, 1985, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers took center stage at the Wiltern Theater in the Koreatown neighborhood of Los Angeles. The set was recorded live and used for his first official live album. Three years prior, the first Koreatown sign was hung within the central LA neighborhood. Korean immigrants began populating the area during the 1960s and immediately established an enclave built on tradition and hope.
